Do you want help or you want to help?
You ever question yourself about your motives for employment? You want more than just “get a job?” You represent yourself as someone who can help? Or you just imagine myself as someone who needs help?
What to tell your resume? Does your resume scream like someone needs help? Or he shouted as someone wants to help? If you can not answer a resounding “yes” to the last question, you have a problem! You must submit your resume and interview, as someone wants to help and who can help. If you can not do what you really do not help, so why would a potential employer to hire you? History tells your resume should leave the reader asking for additional information. You can not tell the whole story or the reader feels that he no longer needed. They will submit their resumes, assuming that they know everything they need to know, obviously not the desired result. Remember that the facts (which you see in the most summary) tell but stories sell. Stories have the additional plus of showing that you have done, and let the reader to project that to what you can do for them.
Can your reader to know how you add to the organization?
If the reader has the ability to project what you can do, and it matches what the organization needed to do, you have achieved your goals and interview should be forthcoming. If the reader projects that you can do, and there is no match, then one of you will not spend more time.
If what the reader projects do not correspond to what you can do that is to disconnect your story and I hope you can see that. It will be difficult, but if you have all the necessary connecting networks within an organization, you can get the information you desire and need, so you can make the necessary changes.
John F. Kennedy put it better when he said: “This is not what your country can do for you is what you can do for your country.” For candidates, I want to paraphrase President Kennedy a little: this is not something that your prospective company can do for you; this is what you can do for your prospective company.
